Tungsten Carbide Tips & Inserts — Hardness HRA 86–89

Tungsten carbide (WC-Co) tips and inserts for cutting picks, crusher wear parts and custom tooling. Vacuum-brazed for tip retention, hardness HRA 86–89. Request a grade selection chart.

The carbide tip is the part that actually does the cutting. A pick is only as good as its tip — and the tip is only as good as its grade selection (the cobalt binder and grain size) and its brazing to the body. Both are where cheap picks fail first.

Grades: Hardness vs Toughness

ConditionRecommended gradeTrade-off
Asphalt / soft coalHarder grade, fine grainLongest wear, lower impact tolerance
Mixed strata / gangueBalanced gradeWear vs toughness
Hard rock / high impactTougher grade, higher cobaltMore impact resistance, slightly faster wear

Why Tip Loss Is the #1 Complaint — and How We Avoid It

  • Vacuum brazing holds the tip under high-temperature and high-impact load, preventing desoldering.
  • Controlled braze gap for consistent joint strength batch to batch.
  • Tip-retention testing as part of outgoing inspection.

What We Supply

  • Conical / ballistic tips for road milling and mining picks
  • Carbide inserts for crusher hammers and wear liners
  • Custom tips and inserts to your drawing or sample
  • Brazed-to-body assemblies (tips pre-brazed onto pick bodies)

Lead Time, MOQ & Trial Orders

  • Trial order: from from 3 pcs.
  • Sample lead time: 7–10 days.
  • Production lead time: 15–25 days depending on grade and quantity.
  • MOQ: from 3 pcs (confirmed per part), confirmed per part.

Inspection & Documents

  • Hardness check (HRA 86–89 typical)
  • Microstructure / grade certificate on request
  • Dimensional inspection of tip geometry

FAQ

How do I choose the right carbide grade?

Tell us the material you’re cutting and the impact level. We’ll recommend a grade and, if you want, run a wear-life comparison.

Do you sell tips alone, or only brazed to bodies?

Both — tips alone, or tips pre-brazed onto pick bodies for a ready-to-fit assembly.

Can you match a competitor’s tip?

Yes. Send a sample or drawing and we reverse-spec the grade and geometry.

Need carbide tips that actually stay on?
Send your material and impact conditions for a grade recommendation and quote.
